About the Position
Santam, Financial Management division has a Treasury Manager role available. The role reports to the Manager: Financial Operations and will be based at Santam Head Office in Bellville.
The Treasury Manager is responsible for the management of Santam's liquidity through cash management, mitigating operational and financial risk related to cash, corporate governance over Santam funds including setting of policies and the optimisation of return on funds and managing the day-to-day cash and banking operation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Management of cash flow, including cash flow forecast and structure of foreign currency bank accounts
Monitoring and reporting on cash flow (including foreign currency accounts)
Cash flow optimisation through drafting and implementing policies to maximise interest returns
Dividend policy management
Ensure that the policies and requirements of the Risk Committee is adhered to
Foreign currency management, including:
Assessment of effectiveness of current hedging via foreign bank accounts
Ensure that the foreign exchange rules across Santam Ltd are standardised and implementation thereof is monitored
Reporting in foreign currency implemented (reporting to be done by reporting team; rules determined by Treasury role)
Management of interest rate and currency risks
Stakeholder relationship with all banks
Monitoring and negotiating banking costs
Partner with Corporate Finance to ensure the best return on cash investments are maintained
Work with Actuarial department to assist with Financial Risk Management
Support all relevant reporting requirements including to rating agencies, Manco and Exco committees and Board sub committees
Working Capital Management- ensure that the company's managerial accounting strategy is designed to monitor and utilize the two components of working capital, current assets and current liabilities, to ensure the most financially efficient operation of the company
Understand the business needs and align the treasury policies with it and the company strategy
Optimal tools and technologies - Understand relevant tools and technologies that could assist with treasury management and create more efficient capabilities for Santam.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Relevant tertiary qualification/Business degree
At least 6 years treasury management experience
Sound understanding of financial principles and concepts
International Financial Reporting Standards
Ability to travel locally
Ability to work independently
